Just as I am sitting down to write this a spider on its web has dropped in front of my eyes. My grandmother always told me that when a spider drops down in front of you it is good luck. My grandmother, who I just lost this year, was an amazing women filled with tidbits of interesting information and one of the most creative home decorators I've ever met. Mr. spider, thank you for dropping in front of me, making me smile, and keeping me inspired.
So, why am I so inspired lately:
- I work with truly beautiful and hard working people. When you are surrounded by people who rally together to get work done it is very motivating.
- My father and I got together for our second annual "build a garden in my backyard". Something about growing food and working with your hands can make you feel more positive about the world.
- Through social media I've been able to connect with more people. I'm a people person, and there are so many inspirational people who are spreading messages and stories online. I love the interaction and encouragement that happens in these groups.
- I had a great conversation with my mentor Howard Hansen and his business partner Steve Geske (www.healingleaders.com) about how the only thing I can ask for is "what I need" and report "how I see things". I won't get into the details here, but this realization was freeing. Sometimes I take too much ownership of things and really overstep my bounds. I am reminded to stay in my playground and take care of myself.
Well, I can only tell you what I would do if I found myself in that situation.
- I would do some soul searching and try to determine how exactly I allowed myself to get pulled into negative thinking and energy. During this thought process I would write down my goals, where I would like to be, and what behavior of mine I can change to help me get there.
- I would surround myself with people that are inspired and are doing what I would like to be doing.
- I would surround myself with reading to support learning and growth.
